North Uist, in the Outer Hebrides, is a place of extraordinary simplicity. Vast open landscapes, dark shorelines and constantly changing light create a sense of space and stillness that is difficult to put into words.

I was drawn to the quiet geometry of this scene: the soft curves of the hills, the almost graphic lines of the water and the small house standing alone in the distance. In black and white, the landscape is reduced to its essentials — light, form, texture and space. What remains is a quiet image with very little distraction, leaving room for the eye to wander.
