Black and white is less.
Black and white is geometry.
Black and white is emotion.
My photographic mind works in black and white. It's the way that I try to express my feelings about the world - I like the beauty, the vastness, the space to breathe, sometimes the insinuation of a looming uneasiness...
I am passionate about this. I keep working on my photos endlessly to achieve that final result satisfying my own self.
I invite you to just have a look, maybe a longer look, and maybe get a glimpse of the emotion it exudes.
Bio
Born in East Germany, Jens Winkler became fascinated by the art of photography very early in his life. Before turning 18 years old, he already had his own camera and laboratory, enabling him to control the whole process of creating photographs. For many years he worked with a large format film camera, for the best and most detailed results.
Only when digital photography was capable to match that huge film format, he switched to new equipment. Jens Winkler is now using a medium format digital camera. He also owns a big printer, so he is still able to control all steps of creation himself, up to the final printed result.
Despite his huge interest in photography, he never made this a profession. He enjoys being completely free in what he does in his photographic projects. He has been living in the outskirts of Munich for many years, and enjoys shooting in the surroundings there and wherever he travels.
